Become your own guide by accessing your intuition

Our everyday breathing normally works unconsciously through the autonomic nervous system, like digestion, heart rate. However, through conscious breathing we get into a non-ordinary state of mind. Examples of non-ordinary states of mind include being under hypnosis, in a trance state or even in meditation. Breathwork has existed in ancient cultures for a very long time but has now come into prominence in the last few years.

Though non-ordinary states of mind, breathwork not only allows you to access the subconscious (parking the conscious or analytical mind aside), accessing your inner wisdom or inner guidance, but also allows the body to release any stuck energies. In his book, The Body Keeps the Score, Doctor Bessel van der Kolk explains how people who have experienced trauma often have that energy stuck in the body. The whole purpose of a breathwork journey is to allow your inner guidance to shine through and allow the body to feel these stuck emotions, so that they can finally get processed.

There are in fact three ways or speeds to do the breathwork method: restorative (nose-nose) and activation (nose-mouth or mouth-mouth) - the analogy would be to use first (slow), second (medium) and third (fast) gear. The way we perform the breathwork is through connective breathing (deep inhales, soft exhales). Through activation breathwork, you may experience visions, tingling, buzzing, vibrations, numbness, lightheadedness, etc. You may also experience cramping in the hands (called tetany), body spasms, deep emotional releases such as anger, sadness, etc. These are all perfectly normal. I would really encourage you to try the five-minute Owaken Daily practice before our session, so you can already get familiar with connected breath.

In order to help you move these energies, you can use the following tools:

  • Tapping

  • Touch

  • Toning

You can also put your foot off the gas peddle and gear down if you feel overwhelmed. You are always in the driver’s seat!

I will be guiding you through this journey. I will check in with you to make sure you feel safe and supported.

What can you expect from a session?

01 — Discussing your intake form (30 mins)

It’s important to take the time to discuss what you want to work on during the session. However, clients need to bear in mind that the bodymind system will decide what needs attention. We will also go through the various breathwork techniques available and decide which one you want to do.

02 — Breathwork session (60 mins)

For the next 60 minutes, I will take you through your breathwork journey that is unique to you, using various tools of your choice like music, scents, sounds - all tailored to provide you the right set and setting for your experience. I also offer energy work by intuitively tapping into your energy to see whether anything needs attention.

03 — Post-breathwork debrief and journaling

It’s important to come out of your experience in a gentle way. We will take the time to let the experience sink in. You will be invited to share, but this is optional. Journaling to capture key takeaways is very important.

Your body is constantly talking to you. But the question is, are you listening?
